Catholic Mission School wanted to make language learning more engaging for primary students by creating an immersive "Alice in Wonderland" themed experience. Students embark on a magical journey where they must complete language-based challenges like through grammar exercises. This location-based game gets students physically moving around the community around the school while reinforcing essential language skills through interactive, themed mini-games.

The Challenge
Traditional language learning often fails to engage young students, who quickly lose interest in repetitive grammar exercises and vocabulary drills. Catholic Mission School found that primary students struggled to maintain focus during conventional language lessons, and the sedentary nature of classroom learning wasn't helping retention or enthusiasm. They needed an innovative approach that could transform passive learning into an active, memorable experience while still effectively teaching core language skills.
The Solution
GNS developed a location-based mobile game that transformed the school's surroundings into an interactive "Alice in Wonderland" experience. Students follow a narrative path through physical locations, where they encounter characters and challenges requiring them to apply language skills in context. Each station features QR-triggered augmented reality elements and mini-games focused on different language competencies. This approach combines physical activity with experiential learning, making grammar and vocabulary acquisition part of an adventure rather than a classroom chore. Early results show increased student engagement, better retention, and more positive attitudes toward language learning.
